Zionist Israel once again provoked the Muslims and Palestinian people on Friday (19/5) by organizing the Israeli Flag March in the city of Jerusalem. This action was claimed by Zionist Israel as a commemoration of their victory in the 6-Day War against Arab countries, which resulted in the occupation of Palestine, including Sinai and the Golan Heights. The most distressing part of it all is the control over East Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. They held the march with the claim of conquering the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city of Jerusalem.
The march, attended by thousands of illegal Jewish settlers with the approval of the Jewish apartheid Zionist government, was also joined by Itamar Ben Gvir, the Minister of National Security of the Israeli occupation, and Bezalel Smotrich, the Minister of Finance, who passed through the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Muslim area in the Old City of Jerusalem.
This flag march by raising the Zionist Israeli flag is an extremely provocative and outrageous act. Besides issuing racist slogans such as “Death to Arabs,” this action is an insult to the Muslim community as it is carried out in front of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is the first qibla (direction of prayer) for Muslims. Moreover, this act took place amidst the gathering of Arab countries at the 32nd Arab Summit in Jeddah, where the main issue of resolving the Palestinian problem was being discussed.
Therefore, the Aqsa Working Group (AWG) states the following:
- Strongly condemns the Zionist Israeli provocative action in organizing the march. This is a religious provocation as it takes place in the midst of the Muslim settlements and in front of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
- Calls on Arab countries currently attending the 32nd Arab Summit in Jeddah to take immediate concrete steps to save the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the desecration by Zionist Israel.
- Urges all Muslims worldwide to simultaneously raise the Palestinian flag as a form of support for Palestine and resistance against Zionist Israeli provocations. Specifically, Muslims in Indonesia are called upon to raise both the Indonesian and Palestinian flags simultaneously in all cities across Indonesia.
- Appreciates the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia for swiftly condemning the provocative actions in front of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Zionist occupiers and members of the Israeli Zionist Parliament. It is hoped that this will be followed by all Arab and Muslim countries taking real action in defense of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
- As the world’s largest Muslim-populated country, urges the Indonesian government to continue actively raising the issue of Al-Aqsa and Palestine in international forums and to make tangible breakthroughs in defending Palestine and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
- Calls for unity among all Muslims wherever they may be as an absolute requirement for victory in the efforts to liberate the Al-Aqsa Mosque and achieve Palestinian independence.
